Paula's Petite Pups

Poochon and Miniature Poodle Pups for you to Love!

About Us and our Petite Pup Program

We are a family breeding business.  We have wonderful dogs with bubbly, happy personalities and beautiful hypoallergenic, non-shedding coats.  They have the best personality characteristics of their breeds.  When our Shammy was old enough to breed, we decided to give it a go.  Not thinking too far into the future, we didn't exactly have a game plan for the puppies.  Well, that first litter was a great learning experience and an eye-opener!   We quickly found that it takes a lot of time, advertising and screening to find good people and 'forever homes' for our special puppies.  But we did find that we truly enjoyed the breeding process and raising the puppies to be happy, healthy and sociable.

Since then, we have strived to educate ourselves in breeding.  We have taken great pains to ensure that each puppy we bring into this world will have an approved forever homeHence, the birth of Paula's Petite Pups website.  We spend quite a bit of time and money advertising and updating our website to bring in great potential customers.  Our litters are now well planned and we have a terrific Petite Pup Program since those early days. This is still a family breeding business.  There is little profit in small home breeding programs.  We do it because we love it, and I'm sure our love will show in each and every Petite Pup.

From birth to your forever home:  our Petite Pup Program

For the first 3 weeks of a Pup's life, they are isolated from all dogs and visitors in the whelping room inside our home.  The Pups have plenty of peaceful time with their Momma; nursing, sleeping and growing all day and night.  The puppies are weighed daily to ensure they are growing well.  We pop our heads in every hour or so to check on things.  We use the 'early neural stimulation' method daily on our Pups starting at 3 days old.  Starting at 2-3 weeks old, my family comes in and out for short periods of time to handle them daily.  The Pups get used to being touched and learn our voices and scents.

Around the 4th or 5th week of the Pup's life, the litter is moved into the 'nursery', which happens to be our family room!  The Pups are kept in a kiddy pool or doggy play pen so that our other pet dogs can just look at them.  The Momma dog can jump in and out of the enclosure at her will, giving the Momma a much needed break and eases her into introducing her Pups to others.  The Pups and our other pet dogs get used to each other's sights, scents and sounds.  We have a very busy household, full of noises and people, singing and screaming parrots carrying on all hours of the day!   The Pups learn to do their business on newspaper and are offered various puppy foods to begin the weaning process.  They also spend short periods of time in a crate, making your crate training a little easier when you take your Pup home.

Around the 5th or 6th week of the Pup's life, the litter is allowed in and out of the play pen or pool and are free to roam around the puppy secured family room.  They play with toys, other pet dogs and our family.  They are handled whenever they wish.  The Pups can take naps with us on the couch as often as they like.  The newspaper is down and this is when newspaper training and puppy food
eating is our main focus!  The Pups are taken on short car trips.  They are vaccinated and dewormed at this time.  We brush and bathe them regularly.  They take many supervised trips to the wonderful world of the big backyard.

Around this time, the Pups are showing us their individual personalities.  We can help you pick a perfect pup for your particular family needs.  Alpha dog, kid-friendly, lap dog, working dog, single pet home or multi-pet home, we'll do our best to inform you and give you a perfect match!

Around 8-9 weeks old is when most of the Pups go to their new approved forever homes.  If you are personally picking up your pet, you will receive The Petite Pup Starter Gift Pack.  It includes a blanket and toys that your Pup's Momma dog and litter-mates have played with.  They are pre-played and pre-scented to make your Pup's adjustment to your new home a little easier!  The pack also includes various puppy treats, a birth certificate, puppy food samples and 2 more doses of deworming medicine for you to give your Pup with packet insert instructions.  It's just a liquid you have the Pup drink.  See my links page for more information on intestinal health and worms (all dogs have them).

If you are having your Petite Pup shipped, please read the shipping page to see the Petite Pup Flight Pack.
